An Ideal Health System for Bangladesh@ My Opinion 2020 Health service of Bangladesh is near to collapse by almost 99% since it is exposed in the midst of the Corona Virus Pandemic. Only recruitment of additional Doctors & Health Professionals is not going to work as per the necessity. Instead, a complete overhauling of the health system is required. The existing health service system centered by BCS Health Cadre Doctors and lead by Civil Surgeon, Directorate & Ministry of Health is not functional according to the need of the country. BCS Cadre system for Doctors neither provides Service benefits nor assures Personal Career Goal for the Doctors. While, other health professionals like Nurses, Medical Technologists & Health Service Supporting staffs do not have any sort of career path what-so-ever. The proposed health service system with innovative service benefits seems to be more effective, flexible & functional. A. Contractual Salary packages & service conditions for Nurses are 40% of Doctors remaining all others conditions as same. C. Contractual Salary packages & service conditions for Supporting Staffs are 30% of Doctors remaining all others conditions as same. D. Instead of a permanent job in health service, there will be only contractual appointment for each phase. E. There will be no minimum age limit for appointment but the maximum age limit will be 67 years of age for all health service professionals subject to good physical & mental health condition. F. Health service working hours are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 30 days a month & 365 days a year. G. Individual working hours are 8 hours a day with alternate shifting schedule (any 8 hours within 24hours time). H. There will be a single day holiday for individual health professionals in a week. I. Instead of existing health directorate & Ministry, a National Health Commission (NHC) is to be responsible for controlling & recruiting of health professionals and procuring of medical equipments & construction of physical structures. J. Initial recruitment of Doctors, Nurses & Medical Technologists will be 80% on the basis of marks obtained in their standard professional degrees and 20% on the basis of a viva-voce examination conducted by the NHC. K. Salary packages, contractual agreements & service conditions are subject to determined by the Government on the basis of the proposal of National Health Commission (NHC). L. Scope for private practices, accepting gifts & other benefits from medical representatives, receiving percentage from Diagnostic Centers & Pathology labs will be completely limited by terms & conditions of NHC. M. Doctors are to prescribe only generic name of the medicines in their prescriptions.
